Bui Donates One Million to Tsunami Children

Kind angel, BUi porntip Nakhirunkanok Simon, donated to assist underprivileged children, orphaned from the tsunami, at Yoawavit School in Pang-nga Province. July 8, Bui visited the children in Pang-nga and arrived carrying toys and clothing for them. Her most generous gesture was upon hearing that the children had no transportation to school she donated a check to Yoawavit School in the amount of one million Baht to purchase a school bus.

Helping Students after Tsunami

Bui Porntip Nakhirunkanok Simon, former Miss Universe, arrived at Phuket Airport together with her mother and friends to visit and donate necessities to more than 100 orphaned students at Yoawavit School in Kapong District in Pang-nga Province. Png-nga Province was most affected by the 2004 tsunami.

Making the Dream of Flying Come True

Bui Porntip Nakhirunkanok Simon, former Miss Universe 1988 and President of Angels Wings Foundation, demonstrates her unconditional love for children as she escorts 100 orphans ages 5-12 years old (girls were from Ban Rachvitee and the boys from ban Manhamek) for a field trip to the Military Aviation Museum (Donmuang). When asked why this destination? Bui explained, “I included the children in the planning. When given a choice this is where THEY wanted to visit.” Most of them told her that they had never been on an airplane and it would be a dream for them to see one. Certainly, the Military Aviation Museum was eager to welcome them with open arms. And Bui was excited to fulfill their endearing desire.

Bui Gives Back to the Country

Bui returns home and immediately started helping people. We first saw her publicly as the judge for the Miss Universe 2005 pageant; but off stage she was donating six million Baht to the Royal Thai Police to build homes for the tsunami survivors at Ban Prutiew. While attending the housing donation ceremony, Bui also took the time to visit all 50 homes that her Angels Wings foundation built. With Bui’s influence, the two-bedroom housing project took a mere 28 days to complete.

P’Bui visited the Foundation for Assistance and Rehabilitation of Disabled Persons

All the underprivileged children at The Foundation for Assistance and Rehabilitation of Disabled Persons had an opportunity to welcome beautiful “P’Bui – Porntip Nakhirunkanok Simon” former Miss Universe whom just flew to Thailand for one week. Once P’Bui was made aware of the many letters from the children requesting her to visit them- emphasizing that they didn’t want anything from her other than to meet her, she immediately wanted to be there. She not only fulfilled their wish but she arrived barring gifts- plush toys, school supplies and a cart full of ice-cream.

Porntip Bui Nakhirunkanok Simon, returns to Thailand as a judge for the Miss Universe 2005 Pageant. But that is not the only reason for her trip. Also the president of Angels Wings Foundation, she traveled to Tambol Bangnaisee, Ampur Takuapa in Pang-nga yesterday to donate homes to the Tsunami survivors. Bui donated 6 million Baht to the Royal Thai Police earlier this year in order to build 50 homes which have already been completed.

Porntip “Bui” Nakhirunkanok Simon, Thailand’s angel, showed her generosity by donating millions of Baht to help survivors of the Tsunami in southern Thailand. Her generosity has inspired several prominent Thai people to continue in the relief effort. Even the Emporium Shopping Complex got involved by hosting a special event to officially introduce the Angels Wings for Tsunami mission on February 28, 2995. Not only did Bui come to talk about her foundation, but she surprised the crowd by singing “You’ve Got a Friend,” as a means of telling victims that they will remain in everyone’s hearts. The Emporium also imported 35 limited edition Roberta di Camerino crocodile handbags from Italy to raise Tsunami-relief funds.

Porntip Bui Nakhirunkanok Simon, initially famed by her title as Miss Universe, is now distinguished by her humanitarian efforts towards her native home, Thailand, which was devastated by the December 2004 tsunami. After her marriage to American, Herb Simon in 2002, she established the Angels Wings Foundation International. Her mission? To raise millions to build new schools and to provide scholarships to the underprivileged children of Thailand. The tsunami devastation launched new opportunities for Bui to aid and support her people. The outpouring of donations was directed towards building new homes in Phang Nga, building new fishermen’s boats, and locating adoptive families for the parentless children of this tragedy.
